This edition was a picture perfect venue called the "Smart House" located in Mt. Washington, overlooking the awesome skyline of our city. This house gets its name from the technology and contemporary architecture its owners put into their creation. Despite some rainy showers for a few minutes the evening was a great success. This was by far the best Proper Party to date and will be hard to top. Below are some pictures and recap video I put together.

Mayor Bill Peduto, Rich Fitzgerald, and radio hosts Mikey and Big Bob were in attendance. I went down to shoot video for my good friend DJ Petey C and got some cool shots of the event. Below are some of the pictures and a highlight video of the day.
The past couple years he has absolutely Re-Exploded after some great tracks with Wiz and pop stars Katy Perry and Miley Cyrus. This show he performed old and new songs alike and rocked the stage for some time. Opening acts were DJ's @PeteButta @djYEMI @djScholar as well as Project Pat and Travis Scott. The all ages crowd rocked all night despite the warm temperature and awful stage management from Juicy J's camp(This deserves a post in itself). Big thank you to Club Zoo and Chris Firman.

This "daylong" event has been going on for years along with a few others who have grown to have quite a following. The all day affairs have become a tradition of PSU despite the difficulty of getting them approved in recent years. Daylong events are suppose to be an all day event that focuses around a musical act, outdoor activities, or various other themes. One thing that we have learned from organizing these events over the years is the lack of rules in place to govern daylongs by the State College police. The only rule we have been told by the officers themselves is that the discretion is completely up to them for when to put an end to these events. While that is totally fine, there needs to be other rules in place to assure a successful daylong. Greek organizations are shelling out thousands of dollars to rent sound systems, fence, logistics, and musical acts only for their events to be shutdown before the acts can perform. This years LambJam lasted about 3 hours before it was shut down by police. The day was still fun and always an event I look forward to doing every year. Unfortunately at the rate it is going I doubt that daylongs will exist in the next few years, until then take a look below at a glimpse into a very cool tradition that is unique to PSU.

- DC

While traveling I took tons of pictures and videos. Some of these I have released but most are sitting in the archives and let me tell you there is some great footage that needs to see the light. I created a YouTube series called the "Lost Tapes", that will be a combination of short "highlight" reels of some spots and others that are mini behind the scenes documentaries. Here is the first one we released today where I traveled to Washington D.C. with @DJPeteyC to check him out playing with D.C.'s own Redbull 3style Champ @DJTrayze. These are a few clips from their nights at Club Eden and Little Miss Whiskey's.
The first time I had no clue who this kid was but I have been a fan since. Fresh off signing with Warner Brothers this kid has the entire package. He has great stage presence which made me a fan the first time around and was shown tonight through his interaction with the fans. He also is backed by a solid team that excels in their various fields. When you reach this level the artist has to be great but the team surrounding them has to be even better. The show was a packed, sold out house, and the floor was literally shaking to the beat. Big thank you to Jake, Scooter, Joey, JP, Edgar, and the other guys for letting me come through and shoot some pics. Here are some of highlights, enjoy.

What other way to do that than have a 35ft water slide wall to wall in your backyard on the first day of school (for everyone else). This thing was obnoxious and so was the whole day's activities. Gentle sliding turned into gymnastics and eventually supermans off the roof. I don't know how anyone didn't get hurt but the day was amazing. Big Thank you to Brennan Peirson on the camera work.

One of the first shows I ever shot with was Devin and Huey at Santos in New York. This show in Pittsburgh was not as big as the New York show but the energy was still there. Devin warmed up the stage and performed alongside Christo. Huey hit the stage after Devin and was joined by his DJ, Yemi. Regardless of the amount of people there, those two performed like it was a sold out show with energy levels that surprised me. Check out some pictures from that night below.

Paris

After dominating the UK in 3 short days we headed over to Paris to immerse ourselves in yet another culture. We were separated on our bus ride over so my sister and I took the earlier bus and Kim and Steve left on the later one. We arrived first and attempted to navigate to our apartment in the city. We got to the general vicinity of our place but had no luck tracking down the specific building. After asking a few of the locals for directions we soon realized that 1. We don't speak French and 2. They don't speak English. We eventually stumbled onto our building which was a sigh of relief for about a whole second. The front door had a keypad lock and Kim who was on the second bus had all the info to get in. So again we out of luck in a foreign country where communication was nearly impossible. I contemplated climbing some fences and Kelly walked around knocking on doors. The pestering of people eventually paid off we soon found a young guy who spoke perfect English and perfect French. He welcomed us into his friends apartment where they were just sitting down to eat. They invited us to join them and gave us beer and wine. This guy was the closet thing to an angel for us. His group of 20 something year old friends welcomed us in like we were longtime friends. I know we looked like a hot mess with our backpacks, sweaty clothes, and flustered faces but instantly that changed to a sense of calm and enjoyment to be in the presence of good friends. They helped communicate with the landlord and got things sorted out for us. I cannot thank them enough for what they did.

The next day we explored another new city. Starting with a walking tour we got to see some famous landmarks like Notre Dame, the "Lock" Bridge, the Louvre, Tuileries Garden, and the Eiffel Tower. The coolest and cheapest night of entertainment for us was here in Paris where we had a Picnic under the Eiffel Tower. We walked there with no expectations but to "check it out" but soon decided that a few bottles of wine, delicious bread, and some cheese would make this tourist attraction more authentic. Enjoying a cheap bottle of wine underneath the Tower is one thing I will never forget, another surreal moment along the trip when it felt like that instance at that specific place in time was something out of a movie.

Prague

We were suppose to travel from Paris to Prague via train but after looking up the prices the morning we had to leave we decided otherwise. It was half the price to fly and saved 10+ hours of travel time. In Prague we were to meet up with our cousin Lauren. She arrived first and told us to look for a man holding our name. This luxury of car service was such a surprise but also much appreciated. We were taken to our hotel where we had a room for 2 at a very nice spot in the middle of New Town. At this point in time we were pros at sneaking past the front desk into our room. Our room of 2 was beautiful and easily housed all 5 of us. We began the next day as we normally did in a new country, hopped on a guided tour and got a lay of the land. The town was split into "New" and "Old" town and was divided by a river. This feature reminded me of Pittsburgh and normally this may make one feel homesick but there was no time for that, there was more to explore. We toured a good chunk of the city and prepared for the nights festivities. I was recommended to go to one specific nightclub when we were there - Karlovy Lazne. We did just that and we were blown away. Karlovy Lazne is a 5 story club with different themes, music, and dj's for each floor. To top that on the bottom floor was an ice bar. After working in the nightlife industry I thought I had saw it all. This play was beyond wild. The dj's were mediocre at best which surprised me and prompted the idea of moving out there to enter my head. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and made our way home ready for the next days travels.

Hungary

The final leg of our journey ended where it began, in hopes to see family that we heard of and also dive deeply into our heritage. My grandmother lived in Hungary until she was 21. She always would tell us stories of her homeland while we were growing up. She kept in contact with her remaining family over there and 2 of the cousins even came over to visit throughout the years. Our goal was to finally fill these childhood stories in our heads with real life images. A train took us to a massive station in Budapest where we arrived late in the day and could not continue our journey to Tokaj. We spent a quick night in Budapest and left on the first train in the morning. Again the greatest thing we learned along this trip was to ask when we were (almost) lost. A very nice man on our train helped us get off at the correct stop and navigate a bus to the city of Tokaj. Tokaj is a wine town minutes from Rakamaz where our grandmother grew up. Waiting at the bus/train station for us is none other than our cousins who visited us in the States years back, Dani and Lazlo. They took us to our B & B house that was arranged by our grandmother. From there we were instructed by them to get ready for the days activities of sightseeing, "family program", and dinner with their family. They took us to some cools spots around town including the highest point in the city on top of a mountain, an old mine quarry that filled with water, and the man vineyards scattered throughout the hillsides. We then moved on to the "family program" which we were clueless as to what expect. They took us to their home where they lived with their family. We met Lazlo Sr., his wife, and their grandmother. They welcomed us in as their own and were excited beyond words to finally see us. We ate an authentic meal they had prepared and it was delicious. After dinner was followed with countless stories. The language barrier was difficult but we adapted and became very good at charades. During the animated storytelling going on Kelly somehow flooded the bathroom which added some fantastic comic relief. Their house was near some sunflower fields which the girls wanted to see so we walked around the neighborhood and checked out the countryside. At some point during our walk Lazlo Sr. got just our attention and sneakily stuck one some of those sticky plant balls on his wifes shirt. We all laughed because she was oblivious as to what was going on. She soon caught on and we all laughed as she returned fire with her own sticky plants on Lazlo Sr. The next moment that was shared I will never forget. Lazlo and his wife shared a kiss and smiled into each others eye. This was not a normal gesture that is shared between couples, this was true love. These two had some energy I have never saw before in my life. As this moment occurred I got chills down my back and my cousin Lauren turned to me and we both acknowledged that we were seeing the same thing. Without saying anything we both agreed with what the other was saying about the simple event that unfolded. Such a small gesture and amount of energy conveyed there and that I was able to experience with extended family across the globe made the entire trip and every dollar spent worth it.

Seeing the family and Tokaj was a once in a lifetime experience and will never be forgotten but for the last time we had to prepare to travel again and move onto the big city of Budapest. We said our sad goodbyes, shed a few tears, and left Dani at the edge of the train trucks where we first saw him. We made it to our last destination of the trip and were put up again by arrangements of our grandmother. This time it was a beautiful apartment style room that was far from the hostels and crammed hotel rooms we started out in. We did the normal city tour and hit a few museums and ruins pubs around our place. Collectively it was decided that we would make a "day" train trip to see the largest lake in the Central Europe - Lake Balaton. Just when we thought we had experienced it all this small side trip would prove otherwise. After a quick train ride we ended up at what seemed like another world. Lake Balaton can be described as an endless sea of water with painted hills in the distance and along the shore is beach lined with a small boardwalk, restaurants, and clubs. We were not expecting this. The day consisted of playing in the crystal clear water and catching some sun rays. Now the girls had planned on only staying the day and catching the evening train home to our place. I had other plans. I packed a bag for the evening and had a pair of "going out" clothes, just in case. We had tons of fun and the morale of the group was through the roof. Sitting on cloud 9 is a good feeling so we wanted to continue the evening there and see where it went. We grab food and try to plan the rest of the evening. At this point we know that there is a late train or an early morning train. I take this opportunity to go to the restaurant bathroom and change into my "going out" clothes. I come back to the table and say "I'm going to catch the train tomorrow morning." The girls fanangle some outfits and hair do's and we head out for the night. We stop in a few spots and end up settling at what seems to be a crazy college bar with people standing on railings and hanging from the ceiling. The night ends up being just as amazing as the day and surprisingly we all find our way home safely to the train and our room. The final days of our Europe trip are very relaxing. We get to experience some awesome city life and even take part in a real life escape room attraction. Steve and I make a trip to the world famous Bathhouse party at SZÉCHENYI which is a story that just has to be told in person. We soaked in the final night along an island on the Danube looking over the city. We sat there along the banks of the river staring into the city skyline and cracked a bottle of champagne. The stories of our trip were retold and we took a step back to realize what an unbelievable trip that we were so fortunate enough to have.

After getting to London we walked to our crappy hotel that housed 4 of us in a 5x5 - 1 bed room for some outrageous price. As always we explored the new city and tried out the local watering holes.

The next day we went our separate ways, the girls went on a double-decker bus tour and I went to the Royal Albert Hall. This is an amazing venue which hosts different musical acts and other types of entertainment ranging from tennis games to operas. I first heard of this venue from "The Killers - Live At Royal Albert Hall" DVD which showcased this beautiful venue and even better musical group. After the tour I walked down the street to Hyde Park. The park was huge and surrounded by historical monuments, arches, and statues dedicated to the Royal Family. While walking through the park I noticed tons of people wearing Rolling Stones shirts. I soon found out the Thee Rolling Stones would be playing that evening in the park. I thought to myself - If you have the chance to see/listen the Rolling Stones for free you have to take that opportunity and that is exactly what we did.

The night did not end there. I was told to go check out the legendary nightclub - Ministry of Sound on the other end of town. It was Saturday and I also found out Zedd would be playing there that night. No Brainer. We got to the club around midnight and waited in line for 2 hours. It was well worth the wait. Huge club with 2 floors and multiple rooms. Each room had it's own vibe and awesome DJ to go with it. In the main room we walked into Vicetone warming up the stage for Zedd. The sound system there was something I never have heard before in my life. Chest shaking base with crispy clear vocals. Clubs/Bars back here in the States are nowhere near the level of sound quality Ministry of Sound had. Zedd took the stage and started off his set with a bang, integrating synced visuals to the sound. He soon got on the mic and explained he had plane troubles and had his set hours ago at the Wireless Festival cut short. He asked the crowd if they were ready for a full set and the crowd was more than ready to receive it. Flux Pavillion even made a cameo and played for a bit, rocking the stage with a sick mix of Jay-Z - N***** In Paris. Zedd hinted a few times with the Clarity hook in a few mixes. He finally dropped the mega hit Clarity and there wasn't a single person there not belting out the lyrics. The night ended...I mean the morning ended with a cab ride home past Big Ben and the trip continued to be surreal.

One thing we learned very quickly, that we have had to do countless times since then, is to not rely on on our "smartphones" and ASK someone. It's a difficult gesture to do when better data is at your fingertips in the states. The girls and Steve took a bus to Galway, I went into downtown Dublin. From there I went to meet my good friend Corey and Ray. We walked around town and visited the Guinness Factory which was amazing and informative. I parted ways with them and went on to meet everyone else in Galway. The address I got for Kim's Aunt Tini went something like this - "Past the Briar School, Pink house on the right" This type of address is not uncommon because most of the houses do not have addresses since the neighborhoods are very small. A full normal address would read "Smiths, West Mifflin, Pittsburgh, Pennslyvania, USA . This would not work if you sent a piece of mail to "Deasy's, Greenfield... etc" Past Briar School, Pink house on the right didn't work out to well when I told my taxi cab driver. I got to the right area and had to knock on doors until I found the correct house. From there we went around the city and listened to traditional Irish bands and pop hits cover bands. It felt like as soon as I got there that we had to leave and the next day we were on a bus to Clonakilty.

For weeks before the trip I reached out to Deasy's in that region and contacted numbers, emails, and facebooks that were given to me and some I had looked up myself. With no response from any of them, we decided to just show up. On the bus ride into town on the main avenue I saw a "James Deasy and Co Accounting" sign on the front of a building, so we did what we did best. Walked right in the building while Jim(James) was in a meeting and said "Hey! We have the same last name!" First there was a bit of confusion then he smiled and told us he would be with us in a minute. Jim pointed us in the right direction, gave us some cell phone numbers and recommended the best bed and breakfast in Clonakilty - Bay View House Bed & Breakfast. There Miriam, Tony, & Maureen gave us the best service, food, and accommodations that we have had this trip! Liam(William) Deasy rang us at Bayview and we scheduled the next day to meet and take us around. For the remaining of the day we explored Clonakilty and saw the Deasy Brewery, Michael Collin's house & school, and the bay which was near our house. The next day Liam took us all around the outskirts of Clonakilty showing us the Timoleague Abbey with Deasy headstones dating back to 1800's, houses of other Deasy's in the area, our great-great Grandfathers burial site, and finally his farm and house. We ended the day with going to his son's Gaelic football game where they brought home the win and celebrated in a local pub.

As soon as this leg of the trip began, it ended. We were off the next day on a ferry and train bound for London. We could have planned Ireland for 6 months and not have been able to accomplish some of the things we were able to experience. Someone was looking out for us and guided us in the right direction. It was difficult to start the trip with the best part being at the beginning but many more stories and memories are to be made. Stay Tuned.
The contest would feature your video on their website and you could win a free trip to their headlining performance at the Sasquatch Music Festival in Washington. From the start I was hooked. After listening to the song "BomBom" for the first time I was 100% in. Ideas began to rush through my head and scenes came to life in my mind. The song takes the listener on a roller coaster of emotions so I instantly thought action scene. This lead me down the trail to a bank robbery/heist which followed the name of Macklemore & Ryan Lewis's album - The Heist. The video took 2 days to shoot and 3 to edit. For having a budget of $0 the video comes extremely close to the original ideas that the song spoke to me. The project was one of the most exciting shoots I've worked on and I hope that many can relate to the struggle and roller coaster of emotions our main character goes through.

Jake put on a strong show and has a buzz surrounding him that stems from his personality. The crowd was full of energy and the girls sang on all their parts. The party was absolutely crazy and this is some of the footage from the release. There was pretty much no lighting so I had to use 6400 ISO and later reduce the noise in After Effects. Being a DJ myself I again was amazed with the sets and the flawless transitions from different genres. @DJPeteyC captured 3rd place in a tight finish and has entered the Wild Card race for the next event in the series takes place in LA. On a final note the overall event was top notch with professional Lighting, Screens, and Visuals. I captured this primarily on my T3I and used a GoPro Hero 2 for the wide angle cuts.

I used a T3I with a 18-55 kit lens and a 28-75 lens. The show was great so much energy from the crowd. The night started with @pucksmusic then my homie @itsdevinmiles and finished with the headliner @hueymack. These are some of the pix from the night. The video from the entire NYC trip is dropping soon.
The site has been under construction the past month. Look for posts in the next few weeks with media from the NYC Huey Mack X Devin Miles trip, Pittsburgh Redbull 3style battle, and various other PIX and FLIX.DChttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04465648374991824123noreply@blogger.com0
